Hector David Pimentel-Cedre, or Dahveed as he is known (Spanish pronunciation of David), currently serves as strings teacher in the North Penn School District, where he directs the grades 7-9 string orchestras at Penndale Middle School. Regionally, Dahveed serves as the music director of the ‘Ripieno’ Ensemble at Youth Orchestra Bucks County.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dahveed began his violin studies at the age of 5 at the Conservatory of Music’s “Programa de Cuerdas”. After moving to Pennsylvania during his middle school years, he graduated from Northampton High School and pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin performance at Penn State University, followed by a Master’s Degree in Viola Performance at Temple University.
The next ten wonderful years were spent both developing his pedagogical technique as the beginning orchestra teacher at the W.C. Bryant High School in Queens, NY, and completing his second Masters Degree in School Administration at Touro College. In 2007, Mr. Pimentel moved back to Pennsylvania and, in 2008, was honored to accept his current position in Montgomery County, where he currently lives with his wife and two children Lucas and Ella.
As a performer and music educator, Mr. Pimentel has had the privilege to study with many outstanding instrumental and orchestral directors-Karen Dreyfus, Sidney Curtiss, James Lyon, Donald Hopkins, Raymond Page, Martin Yazdzik, Earl Carlyss, Charles Abramovic, Francisco Figueroa, Jeffrey Solow, Luis Biava, Leonard Mogill, Joanne Feldman, Douglas Meyer, Michael Jinbo, Joseph Primavera, Becky Brown, Nancy and Jerry Bidlack, Saul Ovcharov, Jaime Medina, Susan Ashby. As a conductor, Dahveed has led the orchestral program at Youth Orchestra Bucks County (Ripieno) and GotStrings Youth Orchestra. As an orchestral performer, he has also performed on violin and viola with the Lower Merion, Bucks County, Symphony in C, Bridgeton, Lansdowne, Lower Merion, Altoona, Johnstown, Puerto Rico Chamber, Operaworks, Blue Hill Troupe, Liederkranz Chamber, and Hunter College symphonies.
